Around the block

Moving house means saying goodbye to some favourite tracks and training loops. Leaving Whangarei back in April meant farewell to favourites like Parihaka, Western Hills, Mt Tiger and Kara Road. I’d spent two years and a half years on the roads, tracks and in the forests around Whangarei, and I felt like I knew some of them pretty well.

Leaving the familiar behind isn’t all bad. With a new base come new options for training and a whole new world to explore. The singletrack of Whakarewarewa certainly made an acceptable change. Now I have my bearings in Rotorua it is time to start looking around to find places to get away from the beaten track down here.

Running "around the block" certainly isn't a chore down here.
